Charity Climbing 2026- 09.05.2026
Climbing Hall Registration
The event “10 Hours Charity Climbing” is organized by the association ClimbingZoo together with numerous participating climbing gyms.
The aim of the event is to raise money for a charitable cause through climbing together and having fun.
The Beneficiaries
Kröll Johann was born in Zillertal in 1961. He grew up on Rohrberg and became a bricklayer. Even in his youth, Johann was an enthusiastic motorcyclist and mountaineer/alpine climber.
In 1993, fate struck. While Johann was climbing with his partner in the Rofan Mountains (Rofanspitze), he fell onto a rock ledge. He sustained such severe injuries that he has been in a wheelchair ever since.
How it works
Each rope team (consisting of 2 climbers) has the opportunity to climb as many climbing routes as possible in the participating halls between 09:00-19:00. Each route climbed redpoint in the lead (free ascent of a known route without falling or putting weight on the rope) counts a predefined number of points:
- French grade 4 to 5c+ counts 1 point
- French grade 6a to 6b+ counts 2 points
- French grade 6c to 7a counts 3 points
- French grade 7a+ to 7b+ counts 4 points
- French grade 7c and 7c+ counts 5 points
- French grade 8a and 8a+ counts 7 points
- French grade 8b and 8b+ counts 10 points
- French grade 8c and higher counts 15 points
The rope team independently looks for a sponsor who donates two euros for each point climbed. A sponsor can be a company, an association or a private person. A rope team may also have several sponsors. The sponsors can share the climbed donation amount or take it over in full. The best three rope teams with the most points will be rewarded with non-cash prizes at the award ceremony.
The rope team that climbs the most points on this day is the winner of the day and receives a challenge cup. If this challenge cup is won by a rope team three years in a row, it becomes the property of this rope team.
Multiple climbing gyms
Several climbing gyms can also register for the Charity Climbing. However, the mode is determined by the ClimbingZoo association.
If more than 10 rope teams register at a climbing gym, this climbing gym has the opportunity to determine a beneficiary for the sponsor/donation money itself.
If less than 10 rope teams register at a participating climbing gym, the climbed amount will benefit the beneficiary of CLIMBINGZOO.
After receipt of the sponsor/donation money, the total amount will be transferred to this climbing gym – or directly to the beneficiary determined by it.
