Kröll Johann was born in Zillertal in 1961. He grew up on Rohrberg and became a bricklayer. Even in his youth, Johann was an enthusiastic motorcyclist and mountaineer/alpine climber.

In 1993, fate struck. While Johann was climbing with his partner in the Rofan Mountains (Rofanspitze), he fell onto a rock ledge. He sustained such severe injuries that he has been in a wheelchair ever since.

After a very long rehabilitation period, Johann bought an apartment in Ried i.Z. and set up a small workshop there. In this workshop, he crafted smaller pieces of furniture.

The ClimbingZoo association has now decided to provide Johann with some financial assistance, whether for the potential purchase of a new wheelchair, possible modifications, or to cover various medical and therapy bills.
